The Campaign for $1 Million. Your gift changes lives.

You already know that Building Solid Foundations extends a hand up to the people of Apam as they work toward self-sufficiency. No one in Apam is looking for perpetual support. The proud people of Apam want to stand on their own feet, and they are working diligently to achieve their goals.

The Campaign for $1 Million provides seed money that will establish revenue generating industries in Apam. Gifts of cash and equipment from generous people, who are like you, now total more than $325,000. The women, men, and children of Apam have faith that with your support, these life changing industries will run successfully far into the future.

Your gift to the Campaign for $1 Million will
  • Complete the fish processing and refrigeration cooperatives. The buildings housing these industries are nearing completion and the necessary equipment has been identified.
  • Install libraries in kindergarten through grade-9 public schools, and provide instructional materials, resources and teaching training. One library is complete, and teachers are receiving materials and training.
  • Furnish the local hospital with up-to-date equipment and laboratory facilities. Medical teams are performing reconstructive surgeries and treating malaria, parasitic diseases, AIDS, and tuberculosis.
  • Establish community-wide clean water distribution and sewage systems. System design is complete and construction is beginning.

A partnership between many.

You may suspect that Building Solid Foundations’ supporters and volunteers do all the work and will hand over a finished product. Some charities do it that way. But, not Building Solid Foundations.

Here’s an example. When fish processing was identified as an industry that will generate revenue and become self-sustaining, Building Solid Foundations struck a deal with the people of Apam:
  • Ghanaians provide the labor to upgrade and repair an existing building, including the roof, and
  • Building Solid Foundations will acquire, deliver, help install the equipment, and provide training.
Because of this unique partnership, the fish processing plant is well underway, nearing its projected completion date in 2012.

Building Solid Foundations’ work touches all areas of life in Apam. People can’t work if they are sick from unclean water. Doctors can’t heal without medicines and equipment. If teachers aren’t equipped to teach, fewer children will become doctors and engineers.

Building Solid Foundations expects the people of Apam to be responsible and they are demonstrating their responsibility. The women, men, and children of Apam expect Building Solid Foundations to deliver the equipment and knowledge that will make self-sufficiency a reality.

Your gift makes this active partnership so very fruitful.
